The Central Illinois Emergency Response Team

The team is comprised of Police Officers from various police agencies.

The Central Illinois Emergency Response Team (CIERT) is a regional tactical unit serving Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties. Comprised of 35 highly trained officers from multiple local agencies, CIERT represents the highest level of tactical law enforcement response in Central Illinois.

The Pekin Police Department proudly contributes seven officers to this elite team — a testament to the professionalism, skill, and reputation of our personnel.

CIERT members train extensively to handle high-risk search warrants, armed barricades, hostage rescues, and other critical incidents requiring advanced tactical capabilities beyond traditional patrol operations. These officers are selected for their judgment, discipline, and ability to perform under extreme pressure.

Using specialized weapons, advanced tactics, and cutting-edge technology, CIERT officers respond to the most volatile situations with one clear objective: preserving life while safely resolving critical incidents.

For officers seeking professional growth and the opportunity to serve in a high-performance tactical environment, CIERT represents one of the most respected specialty assignments available through the Pekin Police Department.
